Pet Sounds meets Jazz with this reimagining of the classic Beach Boys album

About

After the success of his project revisiting Radiohead's 'Kid A', Simpson presents The Beach Boy's seminal album 'Pet Sounds' - reimagined for a Jazz Quintet. These are the songs you know, heard through a different lens - bruised harmonies, detuned joy, and moments of eerie stillness.

Rick Simpson's impeccable technique and restless imagination have earned him a place at the forefront of contemporary UK music. He's equally at home exploring the tradition or pushing fearlessly against the boundaries, and now his creative voice is back in the spotlight with a typically idiosyncratic project: a re-framing of The Beach Boy's masterpiece 'Pet Sounds' featuring fourteen original arrangements of the source material played by an all-star band of like-minded musicians.

Award winning composer and recording artist Tori Freestone joins Mike Chillingworth to form the twin-saxophone frontline, and Simpson is joined in the rhythm section of respected veteran Dave Whitford on bass and hotshot drummer Darren Beckett.
