GDIF 2023 Opening Night: Open Lines

About

Kick off your bank holiday with vibrant cultural performances in the town centre.

For the first time ever, Woolwich will play host to 'Open Lines' - the opening act for Greenwich+Docklands International Festival and a highlight of the Woolwich Lates event programme.

Experience something magical as London's free, annual outdoor theatre and performing arts festival is coming to Woolwich!
A breathtaking high wire spectacle, Open Lines, launching London’s outdoor theatre and performing arts festival. This thrilling spectacle by French company Basinga will be performed by internationally renowned tight-rope walker Tatiana Mosio Bongonga. With the help of 12 people from the local community, she will make an astonishing crossing, 100 feet above General Gordon Square.

Welcome to Woolwich!
Welcome to Woolwich, with its abundance of evening events, venues and festivities. Stretching from its 1.6-mile Thames frontage to the leafy backdrop of Shooters Hill, it’s packed with historic naval sites, former royal palaces, green open spaces, engineering marvels and equally marvellous places to eat and drink.

All take on a new allure when the sun sets: this year’s Night Time Enterprise Zone (NTEZ) funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA) now also expands Woolwich’s cultural programme well after dark. You’ll find plenty of excellent hotels, pubs and B&Bs nearby to welcome visitors keen to stay and explore fully.

As the evening goes on... Woolwich comes alive! Find out how you can make the most of your time here on the Enjoy Local website.
