Playhouse Creatures: The swinging 1960s, when women took the stage - a bawdily funny and deeply poignant play

About

Step back to 1669, a lively and turbulent time as theatres reopened after 17 years under the Puritans. This era saw the arrival of the first English actresses on stage, sparking a dramatic transformation in theatre.

Playwright April De Angelis brings to life five pioneering actresses - Nell Gwyn, Elizabeth Farley, Rebecca Marshall, Doll Common, and Mary Betterton - offering a fascinating glimpse into their challenging and often comic lives. A moving and often comic account of the true lives of Restoration actresses, with some earthy language!
