Transform ordinary earth into luxurious watercolour paints, creating your own colour palette to take home with you!

About

Join artist Christine Chua for ‘Pigment to Paint - Colours of the Earth’. In this unique and immersive workshop, you will have the opportunity to transform ordinary earth into luxurious watercolour paints, creating your own colour palette to take home with you!

This workshop is dedicated to artists, creators and environmentalists. Drawing on ancient resources of the Thames estuary and using bedrocks of the city as a repository for artistic expression, participants will learn about the fascinating origins of different types of pigment found in our locality.

After grinding and purifying earth into pigments, participants will be exposed to various natural binders that help turn pigment into paint. At the end of the workshop, participants will have fun with their new paint palette and work together to create a collaborative painting.

Let’s enjoy the alchemy behind the ancient process of paint-making, and celebrate this environmentally-conscious practice together!
