A relaxed Sip & Draw workshop inspired by wildlife and nature

About

A relaxed Sip & Draw Animal Illustration Workshop taking place at The Oystercatcher in the heart of Greenwich. This welcoming riverside venue offers the perfect setting to unwind, enjoy a drink, and explore your creativity in a calm and supportive environment. Drinks are available to order from the bar throughout the session, allowing you to settle in and enjoy the creative process at your own pace.

Designed especially for beginners, this workshop gently introduces the foundations of drawing animals. You'll learn how to observe shapes, proportions, texture, and expression while building confidence with simple, step-by-step guidance. No prior experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

The session will begin with short warm-up exercises using soft pastels on green-toned art paper, exploring blending, layering, and mark-making techniques. These exercises help you get comfortable with the materials before moving on to your main artwork.

You'll then create a nature-inspired animal illustration, such as an owl or fox, using a carefully chosen reference image. Along the way, you'll learn how to suggest fur or feather textures, work with light and shadow, and bring personality into your drawing.

By the end of the session, you'll leave with a finished artwork, new creative skills, and a relaxing artistic experience to remember. All materials are provided.
