About

Step into a world of imagination and atmosphere as we create mythological landscapes inspired by Tolkien's Middle-earth. In this workshop, students will explore how to use chalk pastels to capture dramatic skies, rolling hills, ancient forests, and glowing light, bringing fantasy settings to life with colour and texture. You will explore how this fantasy theme has been interpreted in art history, from Baroque-inspired landscapes like those of Claude Lorrain, with their serene, idealised nature, to the Surrealist visions of Max Ernst, featuring strange, dreamlike worlds born of the imagination.
