Arthouse: Remembrance in Relief

About

‘Remembrance In Relief’ is a collection made by participants of Single Homeless Projects innovative ‘Arthouse Programme’ on a ceramics course inspired by the concept of the English blue heritage plaques.

Over the past year, over 20 SHP Arthouse participants, have worked together with potters and psychologists to grapple with one of society’s most challenging, and rarely spoken about topics; grief and death.

As part of this course participants have designed and hand-made ceramic plaques made to celebrate their own lives, or the life of someone loved or admired.

“Death used to be something I sort of avoided talking about, but this course had helped me to process it a bit and to spend time thinking about my Grandad” – Ceramics Participant

Alongside the ceramics collection this exhibition will also feature examples of SHP Arthouse participant’s recent creative work on a range of visual art courses. This includes original prints, films and paintings, highlighting the diverse offer of our in-house creative arts programme.

Arthouse works with over 200 people a year across SHP’s adult and young people’s services. The programme offers opportunities to engage in practical arts courses, explore creative training and work with local art organisations to showcase participants work.

Single Homeless Project is a London-wide charity. From supporting people in crisis to helping people take the final steps towards independence and employment, we make a difference to 10,000 lives every year across all 32 London boroughs.
