Celebrate Anne of Denmark Festival with a weekend of talks and tours to mark the 450th birthday of the cultural pioneer.

12th December marks the 450th anniversary of the birth of Queen Anne of Denmark. A keen patron of the arts, she commissioned architect Inigo Jones to design the Queen's House.

Head to the Queen's House for a weekend of celebratory talks, tours and creative workshops focused around the history of England's first Classical building.

Programme:

Storytelling: Jules and Jewels – James I and Anne of Denmark (14th and 15th December)
Time: 10:45am and 3:15pm
Venue: Great Hall 
Immerse yourself in a story about the creation of the Queen’s House. 
* Suitable for children aged 3-8. 

Art Session: Festive Greeting Cards (14th and 15th December)
Workshop Time: 11:00am - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Venue: Undercroft 
Create your own festive greeting cards inspired by wintry Greenwich scenes and items from Royal Museums Greenwich's collections.

Talk: Inigo Jones, the ingenious architect behind the Queen’s House (14th and 15th December)
Time: 11:15am and 1:45pm
Venue: Queen’s Anteroom  
Step into the world of the pioneer whose artistic brilliance reshaped England’s architecture – and set the stage for modern design. 

Talk: Queens Consort (14th December)
Time: 11:45am and 2:15pm
Venue: Queen’s Privy Chamber 
Learn about Queens Consort such as Queen Anne of Denmark and Queen Henrietta Maria, and their roles in the history of the Queen’s House. 

Talk: Love and Romance in Greenwich (14th and 15th December)
Time: 12:15pm and 2:45pm
Venue: Queen’s Privy Chamber and Queen’s Bedchamber 
Prepare to swoon over royal love stories played out in Greenwich’s romantic scenery. 

Queen’s House Treasures Tour (14th and 15th December)
Tour Timings: 12:45pm and 3:45pm
Venue: Various rooms, starting in the Great Hall 
Join the passionate team of Royal Museums Greenwich and learn about the history of this former royal residence. Gaze upon the Great Hall, wander down the Tulip Stairs and discover the stories within our collection. Visitors will also gain exclusive access to the balcony with views towards Greenwich Park. For this special weekend, the 60-minute tour will be FREE. On the day, wristbands can be collected from the Admissions Desk, located In the Undercroft. Wristbands will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Please be aware the tour has a capacity of 24 people. 
* Due to health and safety reasons, children under 12 cannot access the balcony.

Venue: Queen’s Privy Chamber
